Estate Sale Payout Calculator

How it works
There is usually no up-front fee for an estate sale. The company's commission comes out of the proceeds, so the family's share is simply the sale total minus that commission. Agree the exact rate in writing before the sale. For the full picture, read what an estate sale costs, or compare your options in estate sale vs. buyout vs. clean-out.
Common questions
How do you calculate estate sale proceeds?
Multiply the sale total by the company's commission rate to get the company's share, then subtract it from the total — the rest goes to the family. For example, a $20,000 sale at 35% commission means the company keeps $7,000 and the family receives $13,000.
What commission should I use in the calculator?
Most estate sale companies charge between 30% and 50%. Use the rate you've been quoted; if you don't have one yet, 35% is a reasonable middle estimate.
